Thank you for Awakening the Heart,
so that it beats, pounds, throbs,
and in moments of intense love,
it unfolds its petals from an endless centre
spreading out and turning back onto itself
so that I wonder if these ribs can hold
so much abundance.

And thank you, for those days too,
when my heart squeezes tight in fear
it closes down like a steel lidded box
and I can see that I have pinned
a part of me
on a dream
that someone else has hold of.
